Crocheted Bootie

 

 

Materials:          2 4 oz skeins of 4 ply yarn

                              G or F crochet hook

 

Use two strands of yarn throughout.

 

TOE

Ch 2; 6 sc in first chain.  Do not join.  The toe is done in rounds.

Round 1:       2 sc in each st

Round 2:       (2 sc in 1st, 1 sc in next st) continue pattern to end of round

Round 3:       continue increasing until you have 22 st.  Continue until you have 12 rounds, slip last stitch. 

Make two toes.

 

HEEL

Heel is worked picking up only the back loop of sc to make ridges.  Heel is worked in rows, turning each row.

Row 1:           Starting with 6 inches of yarn for finishing ankle seam, ch 6, connect ch 6 to toe of slipper with sc.  Continue sc around toe to start of row, ch 6, turn.

Row 2:           sc in second ch from hook.  sc in each ch and in the back loop only of each sc to end.  ch 1, turn.

Row 3 – 12: sc in each st to end.  ch 1, turn.

Row 13:        sc in each st to end.  Pull yarn through loop to end row, leaving 10 inches of yarn to finish heel seam.

 

To finish, sew up ankle seam with the 6 inches of yarn.  Sew up heel seam with 10 inches of yarn.  Work in tails.

 

Children’s booties:  16 st in toe, 8 – 10 rounds, 9 rows in heel.

 

Men’s booties:  25 st in toe, 14 rounds, 14 rows in heel.  Using larger hook (H or I) will also make larger booties using smaller pattern numbers.
