MRS. McGREGOR’S FRENCH CAKE

 

 

1 cup flour

˝ cup brown sugar

˝ cup butter

 

Blend together and pat into bottom of square baking pan. Bake 10 minutes @ 350 degrees. Cool. Cover with the following:

 

2 eggs, beaten                     Ľ tsp salt

˝ cup brown sugar              ˝ tsp vanilla

˝ cup white sugar                ˝ cup angel flake coconut

2 Tblsp flour                        10 chopped dates

1 tsp baking powder                    ˝ cup chopped nuts

 

Blend above ingredients together and pour over cooled cooked pastry.

 

BAKE:  350 degrees for 30 minutes. Cool. Frost with powdered sugar/ butter/cream icing. Cut into two-inch squares to serve.
