BRUNE KAKER (from Dorothy Berg)

1 cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 Tblsp Golden Syrup

2 cups flour

2 Tblsp vanilla sugar

1 tsp soda

Cream butter and sugar together. Add Golden Syrup. Sift dry ingredients together and add to sugar mixture till well blended.

Make into 4 or 5 log-type rolls and bake two at a time on ungreased cookie sheet. Cut into bars (about 1”) diagonally on cookie sheet and remove from pan immediately.

BAKE: 325 degrees for 15 minutes
